Our Pastor - Ashley Stansfield B.A. (Hons)

I gained a degree in Biblical and Evangelical Studies through Sheffield University (Cliff College), BA (Hons) in 1999.

Since then I have been Evangelist and then Pastor at Helmshore Christian Fellowship until in February 2008, when I was invited to Pastor Sion Baptist Church for one year—and am still here!
I work out regularly at my local Sports Centre; have a passion for eating, working hard and playing hard; a real passion for life! But my greatest passion is for Jesus Christ: To know Him more and lead others to know Him, so they too will know Him more. To see the name of Jesus glorified!

I’ve had an interesting life journey with Christ, of failing and being forgiven—where through His Grace I have come to know, and am coming to know Him and appreciate Him, more and more. He’s still not finished yet! Lots more to do! My desire more and more, is to please Him and live more fully for Him. Have your way Lord!

 

Assistant Pastor - Reverend Peter Heywood BSc.

I was Ordained as a Vicar in the Church of England in 1975. I worked in parishes in Higher Blackley, Manchester, then Denton, before becoming Vicar of St Paul’s Church in Rossendale. I took early retirement in 2001 because of some health issues.

About 4 years ago my wife and I started to attend Sion where I became a Deacon and recently have been well enough to be appointed part time Pastoral Assistant.

I have been married to Linda for 40 years and have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

I very much enjoy my family as well as selling antiquarian prints on ebay. I also enjoy when health permits, walking and mountain bike riding.

I became a Christian in 1963 when I had a ‘conversion’ experience, previously believing that I was an atheist!
